New Abbot...
Greetings in our Lord Jesus Christ!
On November 19th, 2011, the monks, oblates, family and friends of St. Benedict's Abbey enjoyed the ceremony of blessing of their new Abbot. A little over 300 people were in attendance.
On Friday, August 19th, the Rev. Luis A. Gonzalez, OSB was elected Abbot by a majority of votes. Fr. Luis, OSB became the second abbot in the monastery's twenty-six year history.

The Rt. Rev. J. Alberto Morales, OSB, founder and first Abbot of the community was the main celebrant.
Bishop Keith L. Ackerman, Bishop Visitor together with Bishop Josivaldo Pereira de Oliveira presided over the Rite of Blessing and gave the abbatial insignias to the newly blessed Abbot.
Ten bishops from many different ecclesial communities were present. It was truly a magnificent ecumenical event.
